Millenium Park and Navy Pier

On Tuesday we showed Jeff and Linda around town and went to Navy Pier and Millenium Park. Since we didn't want to pay $28 f'in dollars to park Linda and I jumped out of the car to take pictures by the Magic Bean. It is so much bigger in real life! The picture below is standing underneath the bean taking a picture looking up. Linda and I are the teeny tiny dots in the very middle.


CityScape

These were the fountains in Millenium park. They were two towers that "face" each other (hehe) and the pictures on the front change and then they spit out water and rain down and all sorts of cool stuff. There were some idiots playing in the water but it was 55 degrees, it should be fun in the summer...

Week One...

Here are some photos from our bedroom and living room windows. These first three were taken Tuesday morning. I'll put some clearer ones on later I just liked the way the sunrise looks. This first one is without zooming in, so this is what I can see from my awesome new chair, it is pretty sweet:-)

I can't get any great pictures at night because of the flash reflecting on the windows. I'm hoping I can sneak up to the roof somehow...It's weird looking at the city at night because it is far away enough that the lights look like they are glittering, i'll try to put a videoclip on here. It's really pretty(-:

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out Friday and Saturday and to Jason, Kerri, and Nick for having all of us. There's not many pictures because I kept forgetting to take them and I didn't want to put people on the blog without asking first. Nick you had no choice on this one, it is going up regardless(-:

Lolla Land Days 2 and 3

The first band we planned to see on Day 2 was DeVotchKa. They are an indie rock band that is best known for writing the score to Little Miss Sunshine. If you have never heard of them before they are definitely worth a listen, it's like "a mariachi band playing in the streets of Moscow" with a double bass, accordion, banjo, Sousaphone, and theremin to name some of the more unique instruments.

Second most exciting part of the day was Lupe. We are so glad we got to see him in Chicago (best city in the whole wide world), the show was high energy and the song order worked really well, packing every song we wanted to hear into 45 minutes. He played with a full band, choir, and the heartbreakingly handsome Matthew Santos.





Goofing around waiting for Rage. It's so exciting!


Rage- what can you say really? It's Rage Against the Machine. They rocked, Zack de la Rocha tried to keep the kids in the front row from killing each other, Tom Morello made crazy sounds on his guitar, Tim Commerfield showed off his black work (awesome), and Brad Wilk tore it up. It was everything you could hope for...


Unfortunately there are no pictures from Day 3 because the camera batteries died and we spent most of the day in bed, resting up for Kanye and the drive home. We headed down to Grant park an hour before Kanye and skipped the other bands for that day. Say what you want about Kanye West, but the man can put on a show, especially in Chicago. He strives to be great and entertaining and he was most definitely both. The line up was fool proof, but all he really had to do was stand up there and say "Chicago" for the crowd to go crazy, which he often took advantage of(-: It was over-the-top and wonderful!
